God is Looking Out!

In the morning I was listening to Pastor Dino teach about God’s Hosts of angels and how He protects His children. On the way to work I was on the freeway and a car flew off of the median. It was driving against one way traffic and my car was right in its path.  Then right before my eyes, I watched this car go to the side like it was forced back.  Then God brought to my mind, "No weapon formed against you shall prosper." I quoted this scripture and, thanked God as I continued driving.

When I arrived at work there was a man who kept on pursuing me. He made sure that he opened every door for me and addressed me very respectfully. He even acted concerned with my safety.  The Holy Spirit brought to my remembrance how the Bible tells us that we often entertain angels.

I’ve always heard how much God loves us and is aware of us.  However, this week God revealed it to me! He saved me! Thinking about this, I just can't help but praise God! I am so thankful to Pastor Dino and Life Christian Church for teaching us how to recognize God's hand in our life!

Healed by His Stripes!

By His stripes we are healed! We kicked off the rescue series on Sunday and settled it once and for all…..Jesus rescued us from sickness. Jesus made it very clear as He demonstrated this in His ministry. The disciples carried out the same mandate. And Mark 16 tells us we can now lay hands on the sick and they will recover!

Friends, let’s believe what the Bible says, and know that Jesus is willing to heal us not based on our merit but based on His finished work. You are loved by Jesus. Brutal stripes were placed on His back for you. Every stripe is our title deed. Step into it. Own it. Receive it. By His stripes we are healed.

Be a rescuer and bring someone to church during this series.

Take the Light to the World!

The God Kind of Restoration.

The angels announced, " Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, goodwill toward men!" (Luke 2:14) Here's what they were saying: The sin problem is fixed! Peace between God and man is restored. Jesus, the light, fixed the vertical separation that existed between God and man! What a wonderful announcement.

The Lord said to me, because our vertical relationship with God is restored, it empowers us to restore all of our horizontal relationships. This Christmas season, think about which relationships in your life need restoring. When you compare how much we have been restored with God, is it really worth holding on to any hurt or disappointment we may have with someone? What better gift can we give than the gift of forgiveness. Let's make every effort to fix our horizontal relationships this Christmas season.

As we wrap up Christmas, let's forever remember that the baby born in the manger was the light. That light is God with us, God for us and God in us! Let's push the limits and take this light to the world like never before.

Join me this Sunday, as we kick off our new series...CTWG...Consistent time with God. What better way to start off the new year! We'll have free Dunkin donuts and coffee. See you then.

God IN us!

God is WITH us, God is FOR us, and most importantly God is IN us.  We learned this past week that the same spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives inside of us. This means as followers of Christ, we have received the invitation to live an empowered life. That explains why the body of Christ is filled with ordinary people doing extraordinary things. What an amazing secret that’s been revealed to us.

We do not have to go through life alone. God, the Creator of the universe LIVES inside of us! All things are possible, through Him!  Let’s activate this power by saying what the apostle John wrote in 1 John 4:4, Greater is He that is in us, than he that is in the world. When you find yourself challenged with what looks like an impossible task, say it out loud, greater is He that’s in me than this task in front of me!

Be the Light!

This Christmas season, we want to challenge you to activate the God in you. Release Him! Be the light. God wants to use you to rebuild what the devil has torn down over the years. Allow the light of God’s love to shine through you to its fullest this year.
Join us Christmas Eve as we remember the Christmas story Luke 2 in a fresh light. Bring your family to celebrate with our family Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Give God your best and watch Him put His super on your natural.  We love you and believe for God’s favor and blessings over you and your family this Christmas season.

CTWG for Elementary Kid’s

We finally have the CTWG, (Consistent Time With God) Journal for elementary kids out. Here are a few things we are doing for kids and families in January.

  • At the Troy Campus, our elementary children will be having their own CTWG series during the month of January. We will discover topics such as devotions, prayer, worship, journaling, and more.
  • For each day of the 30 day journal, I will be doing a short video blog cast to go along with the daily lesson over at PastorJasonMartin.com. It will be geared towards families with children.
  • Groups will be available to meet for 15 minutes after service to discuss the journals starting January 8. Register at your campus to get involved with this exciting opportunity.

Make sure to pick up your copies at the bookstore today or online.

“The Light” With Us!

With Us:

Jesus’ birth brought “the light” to the earth. His birth brought a new era which would free us from the old sacrificial system. That old system with its rituals, traditions and laws, were a yoke around humanity.  Jesus came to destroy that yoke, and walk with us as He shows us His grace and mercy.

Emmanuel= God with us; has given us an invitation to take His yoke and learn from Him and He will give us rest (Matt. 11:28).  God is not distant, He is here!  As we go into this Christmas season, let’s extend that invitation to others.  Let’s be mindful we are in the company of God, He is right beside us and “with Him all things are possible” (Matt. 19:26).

Welcome – CTWG participants for May 2011!

Meet our new group of CTWG Challengers for the month of May.  We are so excited to get to know you all and see what God has in store for you through this journey!

Angela Ward: Hello my name is Angela Ward. I live in Southfield, Michigan. I have three daughters and two granddaughters which I love dearly. In this thirty day challenge, I want so much from God, but the one thing that I really want is a deeper relationship with God, and to be used by him.

Jim & Angie Bryant: My name is Jim Bryant, my wife’s name is Angie Bryant, we have a 9 month daughter & a 18 year old daughter (she is my step daughter). We live in Dearborn. What drives us, our aim in life is that we may know Him, Christ in us. Our hope is to grow in the grace & knowledge of our Lord & Savior. Christ is our all & all.

Julia Echols: My name is Julia Echols, and I will be joining the CTWG core team 2. I am 47yr old single mother of 4 children. I am a member of Word of Faith International Christian Center in Southfield, where I serve on our Praise and Worship Team. I’m also a member of our Sanctuary Choir. I am a Registered Nurse as well. I wanted to join the CTWG core team because I want to dedicate more time in the Word of God. I want to be able to slow down and always make “Him” number one in my life, and I know in doing so, my life will be blessed as a result and I can be a blessing to others as well. I love to Worship the Lord, and I know that spending more consistent time with Him will only take my worship to a higher level.

Nancy Beattie: I’m a teacher in a middle school in Redford (and live in Troy). I have been married for nearly 28 years and have two daughters. I have listened to WMUZ for years and really enjoy Chris. After hearing about the first CTWG back in March, I periodically heard information throughout the month when tuning in. I was curious to hear people in the group and see how they felt it was helping them. It sounded interesting, and I decided to join this second core group. I am most excited about getting my relationship with God closer through prayer, reading the Bible, putting my trust in Him, and now being a part of this core group of people (and others from the first core group) with a similar need and desire.

Gary Allen: I am Gary Allen, a resident of Hazel Park.  I have been married for 38 great years to Bev.  We have 3 daughters and 7 grandkids: 4 girls, 3 boys.  I have been a union Pipefitter for 41 years in the MetroDetroit area.   I received Salvation in 1980.  I was drawn to CTWG while listening to Chris (WMUZ) and have decided to energize my Christian life.

Timarie Szwed: I am orginaly from Westland, but now I live in the city of Detroit with my husband and two children. I am still a young Christian, not as far as age, but in terms of how long I’ve been walking with the Lord, and I really hope that doing the CTWG will help me take my relationship with Christ to a new level.  I am also looking forward to the fellowship with the core group and also the support and accountability I am hoping to receive and to be able to give back.

-

Cheryl Erdman: Hi Everyone!  I’m Cheryl Erdman and I live in Dexter, MI.  I’m married to Scott, I have one son, Alex (17), and two step-children, Eric (21) and Rebeca (14).  I was drawn to the CTWG challenge as an added adventure in expanding my spiritual growth, deepening  my faith walk—and making some new friends!  I believe that joining the challenge team will help me gain discipline and support for pursuing life as God intends it for me.

Nicole Castanier: My name is Nicole Castanier I am a mother of 4 children:  1 boy  and 3 girls , I have been married for 25 years  to my wondeful husband Bernard Castanier, I live in Windsor Ontario.  I am very excited for what God has for me , I am going with an open heart and mind to recive whatever God wants to do with my life…..

Maria Caballero: My name is Maria Caballero, I live in Ypsilanti with my wonderful husband, Franklin, and our 7-month-old baby boy, who just amazes me more and more every day.  We attend a bilingual church in Ann Arbor called “La Roca Eterna  (The Eternal Rock)”.  I am also a third grade teacher at a bilingual school in Detroit. Every morning, on my way to work, I heard Chris talking about needing people for the core team.  I thought of all of the reasons that I couldn’t. Then God really got my attention…as I was thinking this, “ well, all of the spots are probably already taken anyways”, Chris announced, “there are still open spots on the core team”.  I am ready to be out of my comfort zone, expecting God to do something great!  I am looking forward to spending more consistent time seeking His face and as a result, to be torn from my comfort zone and changed from the inside out, so that I can be more useful to Him!

Mona Harris: My name is Mona Harris, and a child of the most High God.  Detroit has been my home for almost 5 years.  I work with LifeBuilders which is a non-profit organization, and I have been with them for over 3 years. I found out about CTWG through a mutual friend name Dave Degrendal.  I became interested and decided I wanted to try it and see how I can draw closer to the Lord.  I have been saved for almost 5 years and love God so much, and I just want to keep decreasing so He can increase in me even more.

Frankie Kliza – Detroit, MI – I recently started listening to WMUZ and heard of the 30 day Challenge from Chris Stevens and pondered my joining for a few days.  I thought of the commitment, the meeting of new people and at first it frightened me.  Over the past several years I have been through some hurtful events in my life and became somewhat of a recluse.  I kept listening to Chris and the challenge and decided one morning on my way to work to call and become a part of this.  My hope through this challenge is to make my faith a stronger one and to regain my life as a happy/whole person through our creator and support from others. I really want to find the purpose He has for me and to be able to fulfill His destiny of me.

Dorothy M. Dumas – W. Bloomfield – I heard about CTWG on WMUZ. I missed the first challenge by waiting too late to call, so I hoped (and believed) there would be another chance in upcoming months….Then, lo and behold, I heard the announcement for May….Hallelujah!!  What I hope to gain is not just for me but for those I come in contact with for Christ’s sake. I am tired of being inconsistent with my prayer time and I know this challenge will give me the nudge I need to be more disciplined….The mother’s at my old Church used to say: “Little prayer, little power – Much prayer, much power!”

-

Connie Dickinson , I live in Lincoln Park. I am excited about the Core group because I feel God really wanted me to get outside of my spiritual box. I believe this is just the sort of challenge I needed. I really feel like the disciples when Jesus said come follow me, and we are!
